Upcoming Clubs and Activities Events

  • It's Black Friday and here's a Black Fact brought to you by the Black Culture Club! Did you know that Madam CJ Walker was a black entrepreneur who became the first female self -made millionaire? Born in 1867 to former slaves on a Louisiana cotton plantation, Madam Walker rose in power to become America's first female self-made millionaire. She did so through the creation of the Madam C.J. Walker Company. Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, her company was a cosmetics manufacturer that specialized in beauty and haircare products for African American women.   Can we say yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaassssss for Madam CJ Walker!!!!
  • NAAPID (National African American Parent Involvement Day) celebration Monday, February 11th   beginning at 10:00 am. The event will begin in Aldridge Auditorium, have lunch and an open dialogue in the library. The keynote Speaker will be Mrs. Tanisha King-Taylor.

  College and Career Event:

The following institutions will be visiting Centennial next week. Please note that all students can attend a college visit, and must sign up at least the school day before to attend. Students must have permission from the teacher whose class they will be missing, as well as their parent/guardians to attend, and will be responsible for any missing work. Students can sign up for visits on Naviance, or can talk to Mr. Chun at the College and Career Center.  

Tuesday, Feb 12:

7th hour- Paul Mitchell School in Normal (Cosmetology) 

Wednesday, Feb. 12th: 

4th hour- Northern Illinois University 

The deadline for Dual Credit paperwork for the 2019-2020 school year has been extended to February 15th.  The Parkland College Application needs to be turned into Mr. Chun in the College and Career Center.  Students who have not completed the application by Feb 15th will be dropped from their Dual Credit course for the 2019-2020 school year.
