Clubs and Activities

  • Students interested in learning about racial identity development and becoming advocates for racial justice should consider joining RISE. RISE, the Racial Identity Student Experience, is comprised of students from Central, Centennial, and Novak and caring adults who wish to formulate a progressive understanding about race. All genders and gender expression are welcome. A light dinner will be provided. The next meeting is at Central After school TODAY, in the AVID room and College and Career Center from 4:00-5:00 pm. Interested students should see Mr. Carter.

  • Congratulations to the Centennial Boys Swimming and Diving team for their finishes over the weekend at the Big 12 Conference Meet. JV came in 3rd overall and Varsity came in 5th. We had 1st place finishes from the JV Medley Relay of Min Kang, Evan Hobson, Henry Moore and Gymin Lee. Nick Maurer also took first place in both the JV 200 Free and 500 Free. The team will swim again at Sectionals in 2 weeks at Urbana.

  • Do you have a teacher or leader you think should be recognized for their dedication to justice at school and in the community? Well then head down to the English office and fill out an application for that leader to win the Audre Lorde Award. Qualifications include standing up to oppressors, Uplifting marginalized groups, and dismantles racism, all under any circumstances.

  • It’s that time of the year again! The Minority Authors class and Black Culture Club will be hosting The Black Writers Read-In Thursday, February 15th in the auditorium. This all-day event consists of students and staff reading poems written by black authors in honor of black history month. This year’s theme is Poetic Justice. See if you can find poems that are about justice gained, wanted or not given. If you are interested in reading during this event then sign up outside the English office as soon as possible. Your poem must be approved by Tuesday, February 13th. Everyone who reads will receive a free t-shirt after the event.

  • Looking to shower your friends with Valentine? What better way than with fresh flowers delivered on February 14th?

    Dance Marathon will be selling carnations for $2.00 each. Send a note and flower to be delivered on Valentine’s Day. Come to room 236 to purchase your flower. Add a message free.

  • Congratulations to the Regional Speech Team for competing this past weekend at University High School in Normal, IL. Justice Hardin, Faaiza Saif, and Angela Xu advanced to their final rounds but did not qualify for the Sectional Tournament. Sibiraj Senguttuvan will beadvancing in Impromptu Speaking and was the tournament Champion Oratorical Declamation. Congratulations, Chargers!

  • Buy a personalized poem and a heart balloon for someone special this Valentine’s Day. National English Honor Society will be selling poetry and balloons for $2.00 in the main lobby before and after school February 1st – 9th. See Ms. Green for more details.

  • Do you want to be Centennial’s Next Top Charger? Do you want to show off your talent and win prizes? Try out for our talent competition

  • Math Peer Tutoring is up and running for Semester 2! Peer tutors are available Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday after school from 3:30-4:15 pm. Tuesday and Thursday are in room 236 and Wednesday is in room 239. Come on in and get that math done!
